From the VRS/Rutland list. Looks like the remaining locomotives at Morrisville, VT are now cut up: Hi gang, The Alco and 70-tonner in Morrisville are history. The Alco was probably cut up Friday and or Saturday, Oct. 1 and 2 as we found cutting equipment still "hissing" upon our Sunday. 10/3 afternoon visit. The ancient boxcar and other equipment downtown was in the process of being decimated. M&B 19 was partially cut up, and the cab was on the ground. Rail seems untouched. Maybe that will happen next year. The leaves are changing nicely. Get those last shots while you can.. Jim Jones |

Too bad if the 70 tonner was scrapped. It was in great shape and stored correctly. I offered to purchase it, however there were several people who owned it and they planned to move to one persons property so I was told by one of them I couldn't buy it. How unfortunate because it was historically significant and in wonderful condition. Oh well ya win some and ya lose some. Too bad though because it would have been saved. Mike |
