| Post subject: | Maplewood depot razed |
From the NERAIL list: Hello NERailers: The Maplewood Depot that was moved to Charles Ro Train store a couple of years ago for preservation was ordered razed by the City of Malden. The depot was torn down a few weeks ago. The depot has was built in 1853 to serve the Saugus Branch and the Eastern Railroad. I think this will put to rest any idea of Ro's getting static displays of railroad equipment. In the past few years there was talk of moving a GG1 or other locomotive to the site, but I would guess now that is out of the question. This is a sad day for railroad preservation in Massachusetts. Thanks... Jerry Kelley |
