An A4 and another locomotive undergoing repairs at British Railways' Darlington Works in 1965:

Plus an A1 on freight in 1965. This is the class of locomotive slowly being replicated for excursion service over there.

Many thanks for the excellant photograph of the A3 and A4 at Darlington North Road Works! A number of years ago, the shops were demolished and a replaced with a supermarket!!! For some unknown reason, none of the A1's were preserved. At present, at a spot close to where the works stood, a group is BUILDING an A1 from the wheels up! When rolled out, possibly next year, the locomotive will carry the number of the next number in the class series!!!
