Minature live steam locomotives were once fairly crude representations of their prototypes, but have since evolved so now it is sometimes hard to tell a closeup photo from the real thing. Despite their goofy "grown man atop a toy train" image, the live steamers who build their own locomotives are among the most skilled craftsmen alive.
