A few years ago, the commercial development within the rahabbed Indianapolis Union Station was said to be faltering. What is its prognosis today?
Faltering is a kind word.
After failing to attract the size & kinds of crowds that came in the opening season and having to compete with a brand new downtown shopping mall just two blocks away, the "Festival Marketplace" finally closed shop at least a year ago or more. I honestly don't remember exactly as the place was slowly drying up and fading away. Currently the city is trying to attract bids from a number of sources to revive the building. We have heard of proposals ranging from puttting in an indoor go-kart racing emporium to a casino ( not yet legal in Indiana except on Riverboats ).
The good news is that the building has recently received major exterior work on the roof and brick so the interior is at least safe from the elements.
I'll post more when I hear more.
