Display 0-8-0 at Independence, Iowa. Painted as Illinois Central 30, but I think it is actually former Grand Trunk Western 8300, from long storage at Galt, Illinois. Are any more of the 0-8-0s left at Galt, or was this the last one? Oddly, none of the engines ended up in their native Michigan.

Sometimes it's better to just have the info at hand, than to have to be able to prove how smart you are....
Just purchased the latest issue of Railroad & Railfan (Dec 2004). Has a nice several page article on the NS&W locomotives.

To answer the questions posted, (accordingly to article)
1) Yes "IC #30" is indeed ex-#8300
2) Yes again, there are apparently at least 2 locomotives stored at Galt, owned by IRM, which is looking for buyers. There is a vanderbuilt tender as well.
