The ongoing discussion about the turntable in Jim Thorpe, PA, reminds me that I just noticed that while CP Rail's ex Milwaukee Road Bensenville, Illinois roundhouse is now gone, the turntable is still in place. This has to be at least a 100' table, long enough to turn the MILW's S class Northerns. I have no Idea if it is still in use or not, but when it becomes surplus it would be a rather easy one to move, being in the middle of a huge parking lot directly accessible to a street. Time to get your letters in now. |

CN informs me that they have two turntables availalbe for disposition. One is in Ft. Dodge, Iowa and the other is in Freeport, Illinois. Sorry, but I don't know the length, type or condition. |
