Hello,

Dose anyone know if there has been progress on the cosmetic resteration of MEC 470? What are the current plans for the locomotive's future. Also if Richard Glueck is out there please contact me, I have a few other questions for a article I'm putting together.

The project is very much alive, but the city has been placeing it on the back burner while elections are undertaken. We have a property tax cap on the poll this November and if it passes, all public services will be decreased dramatically. Thus, the 470 becomes a dormant issue while we wait for that issue to be passed. My immediate hope is to review about 6 grant possibilities and write them over the winter (we have L-O-N-G winters here). One volunteer has suggested wrapping the locoin a tarp over the winter, but that may be impractical, particularly as the engine has no public protection yet.
I have recently contacted the Morning Sentinel about the lack of a committee, and they in turn contacted the Mayor. This is NOT going away! You have my word on it.

My email is glueck@maine.edu
