What is the condition of the locomotive since the accident? Does she remain intact? Is she going to be rebuilt or cannibalized for parts for the other remaining examples of her class? Is the loco displayed or closed up in a shed? How extensive is the damage?

1278 was purchased by Jerry Jacobson of the Ohio Central. To quote from their wesite,
"Jerry Jacobson purchased the locomotive at auction in 1998 and it was moved to the Ohio Central Morgan Run Shops in 1999.
1278 is repairable and sits in the OHCR deadline with others awaiting her turn."

My first ever cab ride was on #1278 at Steamtown in October, 1973. When I think of the other cab rides I've had, some legal, others not, D&H PA #16, New Hope & Ivyland #1533, SR #'s 4501 & 2716, N&W #611 come to mind,I seem to put a jinx on these engines. None of the above are running today. I promise to try to not yield to the temptation to attempt additional cab rides!
