New Book on Magee Transportation Museum

The Columbia County Historical Society has just published a new book on the defunct Magee Transportation Museum in Bloomsburg, Pa., titled "The Museums of Harry L. Magee or: What Became of the Trolleys?" by Pat Parker, a former Magee employee. I believe that Pat Parker was a personal secretary to Harry Magee. It hould be a fascinating book for anyone interested in the Magee Museums.

I just received the sad news that Ed Blossom, who managed and directed the restoration and operation of the trolleys at the Magee Museum, has been placed in hospice care in the nursing home where he's lived in Scranton for the last two years or so. His doctors have done all they can for him, and he apparently doesn't have much time left. He was a great man and a great teacher.

Unfortunately, Ed exhibits the signs of advanced Alzheimer's disease. the last time I visited him, in April, he know who I was, but he could not figure out how he knew me. I understand that his condition has worsened considerably since then. His other ailments requre him to be heavily sedated, too. It's very sad for those of us who knew him and worked with him when he was hale and hearty.
