Interesting photo of the depot at Bellows Falls, Vermont. Surprisingly, this area looks better today, with the depot in use for Green Mountain RR passenger trains. F7 No. 4265 exists also, though a gutted shell in New Hampshire.

I did not realize that the excursions today left from this depot, which I suppose is in town. I was under the impression that the trains left from Riverside, which was the old Steamtown starting point. This is a very interesting photo, especially since the CNJ hopper is so far from home in this view.

Am I missing something -or is there a diamond missing in the foreground?

It couldn't have been gone for too long. Can anyone recount the story that Nelson Blount wrote about concerning the Steamtown equipment at the No. Walpole Engine House, and the troubles that the B&M was giving him to get it all across the diamond? I don't recall the year, but I seem to remember that the movement of his equipment across the diamond(thanks to some rule about the signal being out or something like that) was one of the last "moves" by the Rutland RR, even though it was done in secret.

Also, I find it interesting that the shanty is still there after the diamond has dissapeared.

The photographer is standing right at the exisiting diamond. After the Rutland pulled-out, the multiple diamonds were reduced in numbers.

I think there were 5 in total, with some leading directly to the Rutland turntable.
