Colin: I don't know the answer to your question but Havre is the site of a long-time locomotive shop and service facility (GN/BN/BNSF). My guess is that there is a group of retirees who maintain the engine and the grounds. Somebody more local likely knows more. Scott |

Collin, My understanding is that the locomotive is still owned by BNSF. It was moved a few years ago from near the Park Hotel to closer to the Amtrak Depot. This is my favorite locomotive. I used to imagine it in operation as a child. Every time I went to Havre, I had to see it. My impression is that the locomotive is very sound mechanically and would make a good candidate for restoration. I am currently making a copy of the whistle in my shop.
