Ran across this photo on Ed Kelley's latest On Track issue. To my knowledge, this engine never ran since extensive backdating in the 1940s by CPR (reportedly the piston valves were torched off and empty metal boxes now represent the slide valves). Yet here, in this 1986 Steam Expo photo, wisps of steam eminate from the whistle and cylinders. How was this done, by computer, with dry ice or what?
