Lifted from the Altamont Press Newsline:

Minot, North Dakota board still pondering what to do with Locomotive No. 735

The Minot Park Board is still discussing what to do with Engine No. 735, which is currently on display within the confines of the Roosevelt Park Zoo.

Several groups are interested in restoring the engine.

The Rotary Club offered to help restore the engine if it was kept in its current location. Park board members haven't made a decision on any offer yet, and are still discussing where to put the engine once it's refurbished.

Commissioners Robert Petry and Jeff Sandvold agreed that the zoo may not be the best location to show off the engine once it's restored. And they are right.

The engine is in a cramped spot at the zoo, which could probably make better use of the space where the engine sits. Moving the engine to a different location might help both attractions.

Maybe another location inside Roosevelt Park would be more suitable for the engine, perhaps downtown near the Railroad Museum. That would seem to be a natural fit and would help draw visitors downtown. - Editorial Opinion, The Minot Daily News, courtesy Larry W. Grant

Such problems. This is the engine that just last year the Canadian Pacific suggested they completely bury rather than do asbestos abatemant. This is progress, if you ask me.
