Southern Pacific carferry that worked out of Port Costa, California. Lots of photos here of a museum-quality model being built, plus some of the wreckage of the real thing today.

What a great find. I had read in my research for Surviving World Steam Steamships that the remains of the Solano were still in Antioch, CA; but I could never find a picture of it. Thanks!

Speaking of big steam, the size of those walking beam engines is something else; and they were on the water to boot!
