Here's just a random question, how many operating Poage water columns in the US are there? The only one I know of is the one at Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI which came from Bryan OH if I'm correct. Is there one at EBT?

There are three water columns/stand pipes at the EBT. They look like the models of Poages that I've seen. One is disassembled, one is standing but long inoperable, one is standing and was recentely operable but currently needs valve work.

New Hope & Ivyland also uses a water column, manufacture unknown to me.

The North Carolina Transportation Museum at Spencer has a working water column. The column came from the C&O but I do not know who built it. I think it is similar to the one on Western Maryland Scenic in Cumberland, MD.

Does anyone know of any spare water columns laying around?

At the Connecticut Eastern Railroad Museum in Willimantic, Ct, we have found a pit, piping and drip drain where there was a water column, but it was removed after it was no longer needed. It was located between the passing siding, near the turntable feed switch and the Ash pit. In our overall plan, we are hoping to find one to re-install in that location, to help people see how everything on the site was interconnected to each other.

I will have to do some digging, but I think we found a brass tag from a water column near that location a few years back, I think the company name on the tag was New York ------------------- , but I will have to check.
