Now online at http://www.portatreatment.com is a photograph showing the inside of FCAF No.2's boiler after 3 years of using 'Porta Treatment'. This boiler, unlike FCAF No.3's was treated from day one with this regime and it shows! No corrosion, scale or mud anywhere.

Porta was probably using a treatment program very much like the Terlyn treatment that is offered here in the United States by Iron horse boiler treatment. I have seen similar results from the Terlyn program. Perhaps someone who is familiar with both can elaborate.

My understanding is that Porta Treatment is more simple in the application and in fact a more thorough treatment regime. It was designed to be used by semi-literate people in under developed countries and equally for heavy duty use in daily service. It allows at least 6 months between washouts in the worst water areas and perhaps uniquely the treatment chemicals are the same regardless of the source water.
