Seems California's elegant Wine Train just can't win. This time, they rebuilt a trestle, which a local winery owner says trapped debris and caused a flood at his winery. Scroll down. http://railroadnews.net/news/12-6.html |

Interesting about the bridge, almost sounds like the bridge designer ignored the fact that there was a river there. i guess an ancillary question to this case is, what is the source of the debris, natural or someone's junk pile? Also did this new land owner or the Wine Train change the profile of the river, silt run-off filling the bed, or mechanically changing the river? Anyone have a photo of the bridge in question that they can link to? Another article, on the same page, that seems interesting is UP's solution to the RoW Trespasser problem, just plant lots of thorns. From the way the bushes are described, they should discurage people from using thoses areas to cross, until one gets removed. Regards, Rich C. |
