Post subject:  Old Photo

Someone gave me an early color photo of locomotive 2765 crossing the trestle at Elza Gate in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The photo was taken from the front at a 3/4 angle from the decking on the trestle and the locomotive looks to be a Berkshire type. Any information will be gladly appreciated.

Could it be that the picture you have is not as old as you think?
Nickle Plate 765 was dressed up to look like C&O 2765 for some trips as seen in the link below. If the picture is older than 50 years it could be the original C&O 2765, which you guessed correctly was also a 2-8-4 berkshire

Your photo would have been taken on October 9th, 10th, or 11th, 1993.

10-8-93: NKP 765 (showing "C&O 2765") Cincinnati, OH - Knoxville, TN. Departed noon, arrived 3:30am on the 9th.

10-9-93: NKP 765 (showing "C&O 2765") Knoxville, TN - Corbin, KY and return.

10-10-93: NKP 765 (showing "C&O 2765") Knoxville, TN - Corbin, KY and return.

10-11-93: NKP 765 (showing "C&O 2765") Knoxville, TN - Cincinnati, OH.
