Quincy RR/Southern Pacific 1100, possibly the only operating/surviving TR6A, is now safe and sound and running at the Portola Railroad Museum. It was in operation last weekend and garnered many positive notices. The 1100 still retains it's dual control stands (both operational) and SP style numberboards on the long hood (also operational). The Locomotive is slated to enter the RAL (Run-A-Locomotive) program at the museum. For those that donated to help us move this locomotive, we give a special thanks. We also want to thank Sierra Pacific Industries for their generous donation of the QRR 1100 to the Portola Railroad Museum. On a side note, along with the TR6, We will be storing serviceable for Sierra Pacific their SW7 #12. It noted that all the TR6B's were scrapped. Any idea when, or if any of them were sold off separately? Did any of the Oliver Mining Units survive? Went back to my first edition of the "Diesel Spotter's Guide", and it doesn't really answer any questions on these rare units. TJG |

When I first posted about the Portola Museum getting the 1100, someone posted that they had an ex-Oliver Mining TR6B in their shop and were planning on either getting rid of it or turning it into a slug. That's the only thing I've heard that indicates a TR6B may have survived. I tried e-mailing them for more info, but never got a response. We would very much like to get in contact with this gentleman. If anyone has any info, please let me know at evicknair@studiored.com. Thanks! Eugene |
