That is an interesting photo. Next year our Pee Dee River Ry in South Carolina will be returning a 4.5 mile branch to service that has been out of service about 30 years. It looks much like the abandon portions of the EBT. We have pine trees in the track at least as big as this tree but the growth is so heavy walking the line is almost impossible, at least until the dead of winter gets here. It will be interesting to see if we have any trees grown around the rail like this one. Ask me in a year and I should be able to give you a pretty good guess at what it would cost to return the EBT to service minus the bridge and tunnel work.
