I am confident that one of our readers will be avble to help me with a research question for an historic appraisal I am completing. One piece of equipment in the group is the PC 7 business car, presently at the Mad River and NKP and part of the estate of Ted Church. I have been able to track that between Ted and the railroad, it was owned by a third party, who may have been the mayor of a city in Pennsylvania, and that city may be Meadville. Anyone out there know when PC 7 (ex NYC 11) was sold, if by PC or Conrail, and who this owner was? The PC 7 (former NYC) was stored when the late Ted and Sally Church purchased it, at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. My memory is the mayor of Red Bank, NJ was the owner at the time. The Mountain View was on an adjacent track. The post commander, who favored things railroad, had obtained a number of former PC coaches and had them conveted to living quarters for some of the troops by dividing each car in half and in essence making a small apartment at each end. I am quite sure that Meadville didn't enter into the picture at all. Ted Church was involved for a couple of years in operating the ex-GTW 4070 at Conneaut Lake Park, and owned quite a number of former NYC cars over the years. |
