Some news about two three-foot-gauge steam locomotives from the Philippines being brought to Oakland, California for restoration, for planned use on the island of Kauai.

The Kauai Kilohana project also reportedly involves a third Louisiana plantation locomotive; I'm unsure of what it is. Brook Rother owns the Old Las Vegas locomotive (a former Godchaux 0-6-4, a Porter), but I don't believe this will be 'it'.

I understand that a group in Tuolumne reportedly made moves to purchase these locomotives for use at the West-Side Site. (I believe the Kilohana locomotives are all 0-6-2Ts, possibly used with added auxilary tenders).

The Phillipine sugar cane operations are truly amazing. The big Mallets and Shays of the Insular Lumber Company, down to the little rod engines on the H-P and other lines. If only the Nevada County Narrow Gauge #9 was among them...still said to be an extremely small marginal possibility...but probably not.
