Post subject:  Lake Forest College Library - old engine postcards

Here's a large collection of old engine postcards, from the Lake Forest College Library. As you look at the listings, it is obvious that the persons who cataloged them had little clue of what they were looking at. Many wheel arrangements, owning railroads and locations are badly misidentified, but if you have some time and an idea of what you're looking for, you might turn up something. They are mostly early 20th Century and older photos, with some newer ones near the bottom. The last 30 or so seem to be still unavailable.

In just a quick buzz down the list, I found at least a couple of engines that still exist, including Santa Fe's 132 2-8-0 (at Topeka today) and SP 4-6-0 2353 (at Campo, California today). Also a photo of a new SP Pacific, just completed at the Sacramento Shops (CSRM today), and V&T 4-6-0 25 at Carson City. There are probably a few more you might be interested in if you have time to look.
