The museum would like to return L&N Milk Car 40605 to its original colors and lettering.
We have no information about the car, including who built it and when, except for the information that it was used by CSX as a water car for track crews prior to its donation to the New Georgia Railroad sometime in the 1980s. It came to the museum in 1993. It is currently black with white lettering.
Does anyone have any equipment lists which might include this car or the series in which it was in? How about colors and lettering?
Thanks,
--Malcolm Southeastern Railway Museum collections@srmduluth.org |

How about posting a photo so we can see this car. Your site lists it but without a photo. We have a General-American Pfaulder car at the museum of transportation in St. Louis, and you can see it on our web site. It also has two stainless steel tanks and may be similar. I know of others sold to railroads and used as fire prevention cars at bridges or other locations. Yours may be one of these. Museum of Transportation rdgoldfede@aol.com |

Ron,
We have been taking some pictures of this car prior to doing anything with it. I'll see if I can track down one of them and post it in this thread.
The car does have two stainless steel tanks inside with a space between them which is accessed by a door on either side. That is, the car has a boxcar type of appearance (rather than a tank car appearance) except for the fact the side doors are narrow and swing open.
--Malcolm
grinnellglacier@yahoo.com |
