The roundhouse and turntable in Spirit Lake, Iowa were razed in the late 50's or early 60's. The owner of a local private muesum. "Clarks Antique Acres." helped in the demolition. He has many pictures of the area including the "armstrong" turntable and the last train going south. The depot now houses the local historical society. A small part of the ROW is now a walking trail.
I go through there every week, there is a lot of railroad history in Northwest Iowa. I also have a customer who has a pizza shop in the old brick CNW depot in Sac City, Iowa. If anyone is interested he is getting older and won't be in business forever.
