There was at the Edaville Railroad a 42" gauge locomotive from the Sullivan Trail Coal Company. does anyone know anything about where this company operated and where the locomotive is today? This information is from the J. David Conrad book, unfortunately one of his less complete listings. Is there a list of builders numbers for Vulcan Irin Works around the Internet somewhere? Hi Ted; Both my "Surviving World Steam Locomotive" CD-ROM and Doug Bailey's http://www.steamlocomotive.info show it still at Edaville RR; which I assume is no longer correct. Wes Barris' database at http://www.steamlocomotive.com also lists it at South Carver, but has the note "current location unknown". VIW is the only builder information Doug and myself have as well. I believe Sullivan Trail Coal Co. in later years was famous for it's breaker at West Pittston, PA. On the grounds of the breaker was the carbody of a Baldwin Shark B Unit, PRR DR44-1500B #9483B with the diesel engine still inside. No trucks or any running gear. The coal company tried to use it as a portable power supply to run an electric shovel. Some links: http://nepa.railfan.net/sultr.html http://nepa.railfan.net/pshark.html http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Lofts/6444/sultr.htm All was scrapped just recently. Rob Davis could probably add more details. -James Hefner Hebrews 10:20a Surviving World Steam Project |

James, Thanks for checking, but when I visited Edaville in 2002 it was not there and when I asked a staff member he thought it had been gone since the sake in 1993. Thanks for the town location though! Ted Miles |
