Georgetown Loop 2-8-0 No. 40 was leased briefly to the White Pass & Yukon a few years ago, being trucked up the Alcan Highway to Skagway, Alaska. These are simply some photos of the unloading process at Skagway: http://wpyr.netfirms.com/railroad/engine40.html No. 40 is a much-traveled locomotive, having been built at Baldwin and shipped to Central America in the 1920s, then back to the US and Colorado in the 1960s, where it operated on two different railroads. Since the departure of the last operator of the Loop, No. 40 has been at the Colorado RR Museum in Golden, where it remains operable. |

Thats a neat find Bob. I managed to get a postcard of the 40 in operation at Skagway in a collection I bought last year. I just can't decide what section to put it in, WP&Y or GLRR. Decisions decisions... Dave Crosby |
