This is for those of you who understand these things. When reading messages on the Interchange, most of the time the text fits neatly within the space I can read without scrolling right-left-right-left to get it all. Other times the text is way too wide and impossible to read conveniently. There seems to be no pattern to this. The stuff that comes from RyPN is always OK, but the messages from those out there are the trouble, but not consistently. Is it me? |

My Brazil PAs post below is one that came out too long to fit the page. I wonder if it has to do with the long URL for the link? |

Both long URLs and also linking to large pictures within a message will cause the borders to grow to where they are too large. -James Hefner Hebrews 10:20a Surviving World Steam Project |

Good day all, I to have noticed this "too wide for the screen" apparition come and go! Is there a convention that we can apply to our posts to avoid the problem? For instance, would it help to break up long URLs, forcing the members to cut and paste them into their web browser rather than just clicking on the address??? Any ideas? de Don, n2qhvRMLI |

Another pet peeve is that when you finish a topic and bounce back to the main topic list, you're always taken back to the very beginning instead of the topic name you just left. Then you have to scroll down again or back to an earlier page. Nit picking! |

There is a web site called tinyurl.com or some such address that solves the long URL problem. Perhaps someone else has better/more info on the site. Roger |

Well I noticed that also as have some of my friends complained. A simple workaround is to use the back or left arrow in the menu bar at the top of your screen, rather than click on "topic index" below the message. Some have told me this also does not work for them but I believe that depends somewhat on your connection and your degree of impatience. Clicking on the back arrow seems first to refresh the screen to the top of the topics list and then quickly to where you left off. Most of the time this pause is not even noticeable but if the connection is slow, wait a second and you will be rewarded. Also check the little bar in the lower right hand corner. If flashing, or the the bar does not yet fill its slot, more is coming. Bob Kutella |

Here's a way to do do short links, by linking it to a word (or words). Example: Tennessee Valley Railroad Musuem's website: url: www.tvrail.com or to link to a word: Code: WORD(S)
Doing TVRM's that way (I added spaces to disengage the board coding): [ url = http://www.tvrail.com ]TVRM[ /url ] displays as a single word (or multiple words) link: TVRM or Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (V2.0) |
