How I love England-

All that's missing is a preserved King or Castle on the left hand side. Seems like this is a popular location?

BLASHPHEMY, I SAY!

Josh, get out of here before Sandy sees this.

(The "West Coast Main Line" is the LMS (L&NW) line, not GWR. A "Duchess" would look good in the frame . . . )

;)

Oh dear. I saw Oxford and assumed GWR. Geez- I was only in Euston 18 months ago to see "Princess Elizabeth" leave for Liverpool. Sorry John, Sandy, all.

You are forgiven, my son.

Say five "Hail Gresleys" as your penance and ponder a 4F on a goods train coming on the down slow . . .

Consider it done! And I'll say a few "Hail Fowlers" too for good measure.

This location, I'm fairly sure, is the ex L&NWR Trent Valley line north of Rugby and it is beside the North Oxford canal. I took some photographs of 46229 running to Glasgow near here (on a very cold day) a few years ago. Also known as Brinklow or Blinklow I think.

The GWR line mentioned is probably the line from Reading to Taunton which is alongside the Kennet & Avon Canal, or near Banbury, which is alongside the South Oxford canal.

Having now checked the map (which I should have done before replying the first time.....) the canal runs alongside the railway from near Brinklow to near Ansty.
