Hi, I was looking through railpictures.net and found this and my curiosity got the best of me, so I have to ask, who owns it? http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=57897 Stuart |

From the link: Remarks: This ex-UP E9A served as Amtrak 414 before being stored and retired. Now privately owned, it rests on a severed line of track next to NOPB trackage. The numbering in the number boards may have been changed by it's current owner. Located in Metairie, Louisiana, USA |

I thought we had a posting about this locomotive within the last few months. But, I could not find a posting using the search feature. So it must have been before the latest change. The locomotive had been stored at New Orleans Amtrak station. It was renumbered to avoid conflect with an Amtrak number. |

This locomotive is former Union Pacific 909, according to the outdated (1999!) Surviving E-Units Listing: http://membrane.com/~elmer/rail/units/e_units.html The list incorrectly notes the current number as 4307...the number boards clearly show 4037. Does anyone have a guess as to why 4037? Planned NYC stand-in? The Yahoo Covered Wagon list also lists this locomotive in the Excel file available to members. (Despite the list name, it includes E-Units.) http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/F-units/ Best regards, Erich Russ |
