Just about any pro or semi-pro camera store can help you out. There are also several mail order outfits (with web sites.. just Google for them) that are quite a bit cheaper than your local camera shop will be since they send it out and add a handling fee to your order. Let your fingers do the walking through the Yellow Pages... You probably want to avoid video CD as the quality is low... and not very convenient. DVD can be ripped, but depending on your aptitude with various utilites, may be a trial to convert to a format your video editor can use. If you have a camcorder that can connect to your computer (or can borrow one) there are a lot of advantages to having the film transfered to vhs/D8/miniDV format. |

Thanks, that's plan B. I'm hoping someone in the preservation community does this professionally. I'd prefer to give the business to one of us. Otherwise I'll roll the dice. |

Hello , Converting 8mm film is very easy, if you have a video camrea and a 8mm film projector and screen . put up the screen , then thred the film in the projector, play the film and video tape it off the screen. make sure the video camrea has manual shutter speeds so you get clear footage. Now this is how I transfer 8mm and supper 8mm film. Leonard Journey Back In Time Video Productions Pottstown, Pa. Conrail6370@aol.com |
