Subject: Sykes Doodlebug Body


Sykes gas mechanical doodlebug car body available. Steel body with
wood roof covered with rolled asphalt shingle material. Steel in
very good condition , wood roof under roofing fair. All mechanical
componets removed long ago. Car was last gas mechanical railcar
built by Sykes and was motor-baggage of a three car train consisting
of motor baggage,rpo coach, coach ,built in 1928 for Oklahoma City-
Ada-Atoka Railroad .Train was out of service by 1933 when OCAA was
aquired by KO&G MVRR interests ,all three cars were transfered to
Midland Valley ownership . Motor baggage unit converted to baggage
car until retired late 40s . Has been used as privately owned
storage shed ever since. Could be restored to operation. Dimentions
are aprox 49 ft long, 8 ft 4 in wide, 10 ft high,about 25000 lb
weight .Sykes only built 31 motorcars and 14 trailers. This was last
one built and possibly only one still in existance . Carbody located
50 miles south of Tulsa Ok. Can arrange loading and transportation.
This car needs to be preserved somewhere. ED
