I know I may be rowing upstream here, but I do know that on other sites, union/railroad retirement issues are taboo. I have very much appreciated being able to learn about preservation issues on this site, but I personally do not want to listen to pro-union tripe. If this is the way this site is going, please make it known so we can make a choice. Thanks.
I have to take the opposite track here; first, matters of Railway Labor Act or RR Ret. jurisdiction are part of Rail History and need discussed as much as spar varnish vs. urethane; second, as cited in the brief, RR Ret. is much more expensive to an employer than SSA and this precedent is of vital interest to RR preservation organisations that have paid employees.
