Devoted to this 5 foot gauge 2-6-0, now in New Jersey:

Also some Panama "ghosts", including abandoned roundhouses at Colon and Balboa, and a derelict EMD SW unit, presumably still 5 foot gauge.

When I was stationed in Panama is the late 80’s early 90’s the whole line looked a lot worse that it did in these photos. The line is standard gauge or at least it looked that way. Just before I left they were doing some cleaning and these very old wooden flatcars appeared out of the brush. They had arch bar trucks, dates as being made in 1910 or so and then they burned them on the spot. The whole place was a mess but they had lots of equipment that I thought was cool. I was told it was a nice line once.

I think it has been standard gauged only in recent years, when the private American company took over.
