I know that a number of years ago (maybe ten or so), there was about five wooden outside braced boxcars that had fading C&O and PM lettering sitting in the former carferry yard. Are they still there, and is there any way of saving them? I talked about this with guys at PMHS, but I haven't heard an update in quite awhile.
TJ Gaffney
As of a few weeks ago, I'd had reports that they'd been sighted farther into the yard, but nobody seems to know who really owns them. Somewhere around here I have a list of the car numbers that a PMHS member sent me.
At one time it was claimed that Bob Carr (late of the Leelanau Scenic Railroad) owned them, but I haven't heard anything authoritative on that.
Up to this point, I haven't heard that anyone really wanted them, with the rumored exception of the aforementioned Mr. Carr.
-fm
