John Kuehl will truly be missed by the preservation community. His vast collection was always available to anyone who had a question as to origin or interim number, ownership or configuration. He was a true professional in every sense of the word. Everytime Eric and I have purchased something that rolls on tracks, the first contact would be with John who then lavished us with copies of every photograph that he had of the car or engine. Then the fun really started. John would use Photoshop like a master used a violin. The changes and details that came as the result of John's interest and pure decency were amazing. He was a kind soul and a friend to anyone who had an interest in passenger cars and passenger trains. Nothing was too much or too exhaustive for John's interest and intellect. To say that he will be missed is a vast understatement; not only for his talents as a photographer, historian, and pure railfan, but more important as a very decent and kind human being! |
