| Post subject: | Paint Question |
In the past we have used a product from DuPont call Emron it is a very durable and seem to weather well on equipment that has been shored outside. One of the problems is the material is very expensive and not available due to pollutions restriction. So the question I pose is what material have you found to work well other than Emron. Thanks, Jack Young CTRC |

Here we go again...maybe we have some new paint technology to add this go round. PPG automotive paints have worked well for me. They also make a water based industrial enamel which is environmentally innocuous and lasts pretty nicely, and can be rolled and brushed to eliminate hazards of overspray contaminating adjacent buildings, vehicles, passers by, etc. dave |

Dupont Centari. As durable as Imron, but less toxic. http://www1.dupont.com/NASApp/dupontglo ... odeID=2381 |

Having used various automotive paints for some 22 years I understand about your concerns or other peoples concerns on pollution restrictions. Imron is a good paint and costly. In the past I used a product from US Coatings this stuff is triple the cost of Imron. I tested it out after it was cured by placing a rag soaked with Lacquer thinner on the surface until the thinner evaporated. It did not leave a soft spot or mark, amazing!! Anyway you should contact Strausburg RR, they really have great paint jobs on thier equipment and from what I understand they brush it on. By brushing on the paint it may resolve the pollution restriction issue you have. It will take a trained person to apply the paint w/brush to avoid brush marks. Hope this helps. |

Have you tried Removal 501 paint striper from Napier or Hydro strip to remove old paint from rail cars? If so, what were your results? Thanks Ron |
