We have a member on the Steam tech list who is looking for info on Scullin Drivers (which Frisco 1522 is equipped with) & any sources of literature on Franklin appliances. TIA for any help & you can reply to me here or back channel Thanks!..............................................Wooly |

The Museum of Transport in St. Louis has several paterns for Scullin drivers. The 1522 has Scullin main drivers and the Frisco did that with a number of engines. About half of the 4400's had all Scullin drivers and some, if not all of the 4300's had Scullin drivers. The Scullin plant was located at the east end of Frisco's Lindenwood yard in St. Louis and many long years ago, I delivered cars in there. They had a couple of steam switchers, one of which is now at the museum. I'm sure that the Museum has material in the library on Scullin. I'll take a look tomorrow. One of the engines was Frisco 3695, a 0-6-0, built originally for the Kansas City Ft. Scott and Memphis (it does not have Scullin drivers). The company was called the Scullin Steel Company and their logo was crossed esses. During World War II they obliterated all signs and stopped using it because it resembled a swastika. |
