Former Louisville & Nashville, said to be on an abandoned siding at Nicholasville, KY, with other equipment. Anyone know the story? http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?d ... -24-03.jpg A Santa Fe Budd car at the same site: http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?d ... -24-03.jpg |

Well, it could be the property of shortline operator RJ Corman, who has his estate and corporate offices in Nicholasville. The reason I say this is that he has several L&N cabooses like the one pictures stored on his former L&N Bardstown Branch, which is located south of Louisville. Bardstown is my hometown. They are actually ex Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis cabooses originally. Additionally, his dinner train operation in Bardstown uses four Budd passenger cars of varying heritage. This may be a parts car. Corman started out doing wreck cleanup, and then branched into track repair and shortline operation. His spread in Nicholasville is quite impressive. His office building, while new construction, looks like a depot. In front of the building, there is a short section of track, which includes half of a bridge (one abutment, and the first span) and a F unit carbody and Budd dome car. In addition, I believe his track off of the Southern mainline forms a big loop inside his property where he stores his equipment. |
