What's even more impressive is that the site was created by a young man in his teens, who is also a live steam hobbyist. It's always good to see the younger generation take an interest in this stuff. (It feels kind of weird for me to say that since I'm only 32 myself!) Richard Jenkins |

I right with you Richard, being as I'm 30 now myself. Time to face facts, I guess: in the vernacular of our parent's generation, we have officially hit the decade where "we can no longer be trusted." ;- ) The thing that surprises me the most, and maybe I'm slighting my own age group too much, but the "young-ins" are much more connected and aware of each other then we could have ever hoped to be at the same age. Not only do they know each other much more then we did, but they get into pretty in-depth and knowledge discussions of the future of preservation, all at an age where most of us were still tinkering with cars and chasing women (or thought we were, anyway). I got hooked on Rio Grande narrow gauge when I watched "Rails Across the Summit" was a little kid in the mid 80s. Watched it so many times I just about wore the tape out. I even recorded the sounds to an audio tape. Love the whistle salute at Windy Point. I'm hoping that my first vacation in next year or two will find me out west along the C&TS or D&S. Joshua |
