I've written an article on what is regarded as the first operating steam museum effort in North America; Rail City of Sandy Pond, New York...and am now trying to track down photos of this interesting long-gone museum for use with the article on "ON TRACK: An Online Magazine of Steam Railroading". All photographers receive full credit, and we make absolutely no profit off any part of the site! If you can help, please let me know directly, ontrack @ bjwrr.com Thank You! There is a Rail City Historical Society. Their address is: Robert J. Groman, Curator 162 Stanley drive Sandy Creek, NY 13145 Telephone (315) 635-6250 But I think that he goes to Florida this time of year. So it might take a while for the letter to be forwarded down there. There used to be a web site, but I did not find it this time I looked for it. Lots of the equipment from the museum is still about. The New York Museum of Transpoortation in Ruch has one of the Solvoy Process from there. There was a good article in TRAINS about the museum in the December 1995 issaue. Ted Miles |
