Originally named Golden Fleece, the beautiful A4. Others survive, one under restoration, two that have steamed recently-

Mallard (world steam traction record holder), Dominion of Canada, Union South Africa, Bittern, and Sir Nigel Gresley.

A4, in original form-

Looks well cared for but who pinched the front number plate?

Joshua - had a quick look at your website, in the UK pics the class 90 is emerging from, I'm fairly certain, the North end of Linslade Tunnel - I'm typing this about 400 yards from the south end of Linslade tunnel. I've also got a some pictures (not very good) of the Lizzie near Leighton Buzzard in June 2003....

Thanks very much Gavin- my relatives were living in Dunstable and Studham at the time so that sounds quite possible. Which line would that be? Is the narrow gauge railway in Leighton Buzzard still running?

Many thanks,

Joshua

Yes the NG is still running - last travelled on it about 2.5 years ago as a family outing (with brother + kids, mother (as Grandma) ), my nephew and niece are Thomas the Tank Engine fanatics...

Wow, Dwight really looks good!, I had heard that several years ago, the locomotive was not in to good of shape. Dominion of Canada, 60010, resides in the Expo Railway Museum, in Delson, (just west of Montreal) and looks good also!

One can also visit the cab of Dominion. I saw her August 2003, I have also seen Mallard at York, and Union of South Africa at the Severn Valley, but she was stripped down for overhaul at the time. Looks like overhaul of Bittern is coming along quite well!

One day I might get to drive an A4, I have driven "Green Arrow", the last remaining V2 class 2-6-2 and that is a beautiful machine. A credit to the National Railway Museum.
