I found out to my surprise this morning, that apparently a Maine Central 470 Restoration Committee has been convened by the Mayor and the City Engineer, and has been meeting for several weeks in City Chambers, on Thursday evenings. The Committee was being represented at a local train show this morning, collecting change for funding. I mailed a certified letter to the Mayor last week, prior to this revelation, inquiring about the status of such a Committee, particularly as grant funding applications for such an enormous effort had to be filed. I have not received any official reply as of today. If other members of RyPN know anything official about what is happening in this group, please post information here or email me directly. My name is being used in the Committee's literature, but I have no knowledge of what is being done within the group. |

Richard, I am just as surprised as you are to hear of this, but at least something is happening! You got these people to take some action and should be proud of that. Hopefully they won't lose interest and give up -so for now just wait and see where it goes... |
