We are getting ready to start work on the Ocean Shore Railroad Car. We are trying ot find any information on the original seating arrangement and car interior. The Ocean Shore sold the car to the Bechtel Corp. of SF in 1921. The same year Bechtel tried to make a quick buck and turn around and sell the lot of cars. car numbers 1405-09. They offered the cars to the Salt Lake Garfield and Western but we can't confirm if they bought them. At the same time it looks like they sold two cars to the SJ&E in the Central Valley who numbered the cars 300-301. Somehow the cars may have made it back to Bechtel where they retained the same numbers of 300 & 301. One of the cars was given to a Bechtel employee upon his retirement in 1961 and placed on his ranch in Oroville, Ca and is currently on the property of Don Bradbury. Have any of you seen this car in Oroville? The car we have in Pacifica that we found on a ranch in Sebastapol. It has San Francisco painted on the bottom where it looks like it was used on part of the Hetch Hecthy RR. Can anyone confirm of SF bought the cars from the OS or Bechtel to use on the Hetch Hecthy? Did the SJ&E sell the cars to the HHRR? The cars were made in the East Bay by Holman.
