I'm looking to obtain a copy (hopefully new, but used will do) of David Wardale's book "The Red Devil and Other Tales From The Age of Steam". A google search has still left me empty handed, so any leads will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.....BILL

When looking for a book I usually go to a source like abebooks.com This is a site used by many used book sellers to list their books, etc.

Use this link:
http://www.abebooks.com/

You may have success at this site -- there was one copy offered just before I posted this message.

Also Amazon has a used book service you might try.

I've never tried "alibris.com" for RR books, but they've found some rare items for my wife and me.

Bill,

The book is best aquired from Camden Miniature Steam Services in the UK. It is quite easy to have them send it to the US.

Go to the Technical Steam booklist from the link below. You will find "the Red Devil and Other Tales From the Age of Steam," located just under Chapelon's book, "La Locomotive A Vapeur."

David Goodheart distributed The Red Devil in the US. He died last November, but friends are carrying on the business in order to clear out the inventory. I don't know if they have any copies of the book left, but call 773-384-3804 and leave a message. They will get back to you, although perhaps not right away.

It's a great book and I highly recommend it. The print is small and there is a lot of technical material presented, but with patience, even a non technical reader can learn a great deal.
