Post subject:  German steam locomotives

I am looking for information (in english) regarding some steam locomotives that maybe preserved built by a company name "maffie", and there was a engince i believe called the "great Maffie" <p>Also, do you know if any scale models have ever been produced. It's for a friend<br>Thanks <br>

You must be thinking of the locomotive builder Maffei in Munich, later Krauss-Maffei, and now controlled by Siemens. Their most famous steam locomotives were a series of four-cylinder Pacifics for the State Railways of Bavaria, Baden and Wurtemburg. Among other duties, they handled the "Rheingold" luxury express train. They were lated classified in Class 18 by the Deutsche Reichsbahn after WWI. <p>Several of thesse Pacifics survive, and the link takes you to English text at the Deutsches Museum.
