Taken last September. I think this is the same type as the one in Quebec. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=89055 |

Yes, I believe that is exactly the same as in Canada. SJ class E-2. They were originally built as 0-8-0s(Eclass) but some were rebuilt as 2-8-0s. That is a rigid truck. The one in Canada is run by a friend of mine. It is oil fired and the boiler was built in 1960. I can't remember when the locomotive was built, but I think it was prior to 1919. These engines have inside cylinders and valve gear. Walshearts, believe it or not. The eccentrics on the axle are about a foot and a half in diameter. Not the easiest engines to maintain. I live about 8 hours from the engine in Canada and about 20 minutes from the one in Unity which is a 4-6-0. LF |
