Although there is a general lack of railway museums and preservation in the far South - i.e., southern Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana - I have heard that there is a streetcar preserved in a park in Biloxi, Mississippi. It is supposedly on display in Hiller Park, which is close to the bay. Does anyone in the area know whether this is true or just another wild goose chase?

Maybe it is an exception, but the link nearby gets you to a railroad place in Louisiana. I also would consider New Orleans' streetcars worthy of mention.

Searching Yahoo and Northern Lights for "+Biloxi +streetcar" does not turn up anything confirming this. Biloxi has its own web site at www.biloxi.ms.us, and I haven't found any mention of a streetcar there either.

By the way, I live in Texas and have never been on the more or less near east side of the lower Mississippi (Birmingham, AL, once was as close as it ever got), so I'm lacking first-hand local knowledge.

Cheers, Jochen
