The Paris newspaper, Le Figaro, has an article about the impending demise of the SS Norway nee France. The article, the cover story in its weekend magazine calls the ship a French cultural monument on a par with the Eiffel Tower. According to the article a group of preservationists in and around its birthplace, St. Nazaire is pressuring the government to step in.

I have no idea how this will play out. But I am glad to know that someone in France cares about their greatest ocean liner. I hope it is not too late.
